Anya

Through these last fews day that I have been in Hungary, I have come to realize that when you first start off as a Foreign Exchange Student that you must be very observant. As the time passes, and you are getting used to your country and language that time where you sit and observe the things around you, slips right through your fingers. Instead of sitting there while everyone talks in their own language, you will soon join and be a part of that conversation.

The Hungarian culture fascinates me in that way.
Most of the Hungarians that I have been around, take the moment and experience everything. They look, absorb, and then react to whatever the situation is. Un-like most Americans. Americans, compared to Hungarians are very self centered people.

For example, my host Mom. When my host brothers, Balazs and Peti speak, she looks at them like she is the proudest person in the world. That she is so happy that she gets to be with them and feel whatever it is that she is feeling.
But it is also the same for them, Balazs and Peti. When she speaks, they look at her that way too. They have so much respect. And I really admire that. Its really nice to see. Hungarians are really family oriented people, and I REALLY love that about them.

Being here I hope that maybe, just maybe, I can become more like them.

The first few days in Hungary..!

Leaving home:
Was very rough. I did not like it at all. All though what was going through my mind and how I was acting was nothing like I thought I was going to. Through out the day, I was not so emotional. Like I thought I was going to be. When we arrived to the air port I was very excited that I was finally leaving.

The Plane Rides:
The plane ride was very long. But I did enjoy myself on the plane. I watched lots of movies, and listened to music. I did not get to sleep, but hey! Whatevah. And on the flight, I got asked if I wanted wine every single time the flight attendant came around. I said no. HA! When I got off the plane in London, I was very surprised by what the airport looked like. It has more stores than the mall! I know, I was shocked too! I had a 2 hour lay over, and that was not fun. Eventually, I found my gate to fly to Vienna. I got myself situated, and then fell asleep. All I remember is waking up. Hahahah.
When I got out of the plane, in Austria's airport, everything was in German. And I did not understand anything. But, lucky for me, I had someone there to help me out! We had to go down stairs and have our passports checked, I was so excited because I got a stamp thingy in there! :D :D :D Then I went and got my luggage. The doors to leave the airport were very close.

Meeting my host family:
In my mind I was thinking, "OH MY GOSH I GET TO MEET MY HOST FAMILY :O" I was very nervous. Yet excited at the sametime. As I walked out the doors, I was greeted by a member of the rotary and my friend Fernando from Brazil. Then right behind them, I saw my host family! I was very happy to meet them! My host Mom, and two brothers were there to meet me. They are very nice. I like them lots (: We then took my bags and walked to the car and drove from Vienna Austria, to Gyor Hungary. It was a short ride, maybe around an hour. As we were getting closer to the city, we got off the high way and drove through the city so I can see it. It is the most beautiful place I have ever been. Ever.
Then we drove to our house. At the door I was greeted by one very big dog, and a small dog. And also the smallest kitten I have ever seen. All three of them are very cute. Later that night, around 9 pm, Gabor (my host Dad) came home and I met him. He is also very nice!

First full day:
I slept till 11 am. All together I slept 12 hours. And I slept very nice. Jet lag is not very fun, but I will not complain. I got up and took a shower, and went down stairs. Since this jet lag is going on, I am having trouble with eating. I am never hungry. But I do eat, just because my brothers ask me if I am hungry all the time, and because I know that I should to get used to the time change. Haha. Ohh, and the food here is great! Really really great! We didnt really do much, I hung out with my brothers at home. (I really like having brothers!!!!)

Second Day:
I slept till 11 again. Its so weird sleeping in that late. Anywho, I didnt do anything really all day. Around 530 Gabor came home and he took me to a Rotary Meeting. I met any people. And had to talk in front of the club. It wasnt SO bad! I really liked them. I did find out that on Friday I get to go to my School and get all my stuff. That made me really excited. And I also found out that on Tuesday I get to go to Slovakia! Woooohooooo! I get to play tennis! Awesome :}

Third Day:
I woke up at 12. All together, last night I slept 14 hours and I could have slept more. I woke up and checked my mail, and took a shower and got ready for the day. Since it was so late in the after noon by the time I was done (2), I went down stairs and my brother Peti, made me some food. Then he left for the night. Around 530, my host Mom came home and the three of us (Balazs, me and her) went around the city (Gyor) to look at all the stuff. It was so fun. I have my first Hungarian ice cream! It was soooo good. Way better than American. Lots better. As we were going around the city, I was taking lots of pictures. Here are some of them:

People come from all over the world just to put a "love lock" on this heart so they will be together forever

11 days till I leave.

Okay, so, this is my first blog.
I am going to start off with saying that I leave in 11 days! :O Awesome!
I suppose I should now tell you how I am feeling or something..!

Today: Tuesday, August 10th, 2010 10:45 PM

I am not exactly sure how I am feeling as of right now about leaving to Hungary.
I am excited, no doubt. BUT; I am also nervous. You see, it is a weird feeling. So, like I said, I am not exactly how I feel about it.
I love my host family! So, that is a grrrrreat start! I can NOT wait to meet them! :D (okay, maybe I can wait 11 days :P)
I know most of my friends are gone, and are leaving soon. And its funny because we are all feeling the same way towards this. But its nice to have someone that knows exactly how you feel, because they are going through the EXACT same thing as you are.

So, that is my first blog.

Signing off; Tuesday, August 10th, 2010 10:51 PM.
